Some lawyers and prosecution are now raising concerns about the role of certain courts in the country. Some claim that certain courtrooms and magistrates are prohibited from handling serious cases but are only subjected to funny cases that demoralize them.
Kibera Court and Makadara Courts are the most affected courts in the matter
” As Prosecutor, I am tired of handling petty cases, my court has never done pleas, when will I get experience to work, I want the CJ to intervene and bring sanity in our courts,” said a prosecutor from Makadara courts.
He said that he has also received complaints from other prosecutors from other courts within the Nairobi Region.
A lawyer told Rofinamedia that this seclusion of magistrate has caused a lot of corruption within the Judiciary.
” Let all the magistrates and Judges handle all manner of cases, they are all lawyers and competent. I know of some courtrooms where magistrates are not allowed to take pleas,” said lawyer Albert Juma.
Juma added that some Judges and Magistrates who head the station have denied several magistrates from taking pleas or handling highly sensitive matters without a good reason.
” All magistrates and Judges need to be the same, let the CJ and the JSC intervene and help seek out this mess, it is so heartbreaking and demoralized their working spirits,” said a famous advocate of the high court.
