An Eastleigh madrasa teacher accused of repeatedly defiling his two stepdaughters will remain in custody after a Milimani Children’s Court declined to release him on bond over concerns that he could interfere with the victims, who are expected to testify in the case.
Mohamed Abdullahi Mire had denied the charges when he appeared before Principal Magistrate Andrew Munene on Monday, July 6, 2026.
According to the charge sheet, Mire is accused of defiling and indecently touching one of his stepdaughters on diverse dates between 2024 and June 2026 in Eastleigh, Kamukunji Sub-county, Nairobi County.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions further alleges that he also defiled and indecently touched the second stepdaughter, aged 12, during the same period.
The prosecution opposed his release on bond, arguing that the accused shares a home with the two minors and could interfere with them since they are key prosecution witnesses.
The court heard that the alleged abuse began when the girls attended madrasa classes conducted by the accused before he later married their mother.
The Director of Public Prosecutions told the court that the alleged offences continued after the family began living together.
The prosecution urged the court to prioritize the hearing so the minors can testify before the accused is considered for release on bond.
“Your honour, the accused person has chances of interfering with the witnesses on this matter because they live in the same house,” the prosecutor submitted to the court.
In his defence, Mire denied the allegations, insisting that he had been falsely accused.
He admitted that the complainants lived with him but maintained that he considered them his children and could not have committed the offences. He also told the court that he usually returned home late from work when the children’s mother and the rest of the family were already in the house.
” Your honour, Mimi sikufanya chochote, Hao walikuwa nikama watoto wangu, na mama yao ni bibi yangu. Ni kweli tulikuwa tunaishi mahali pamoja, but nilikuwa nachelewa kazi nikifika nyumbani. Mama yuko, watoto wako wote, hata Alhamisi na Ijumaa nilikuwa sikuji mimi nyumbani,” Mohamed told the court.
“Nilikua nafika usiku, na usiku ni mama yao yuko, so I sijafanya chochote. This is just a false accusation; hao ni watoto wangu,” Mohamed added.
The court declined to release Mire on bond and directed that he remain in custody pending hearing and determination.
