A 75 year old woman has been charged with attempting to defraud former Nairobi deputy governor Agnes Kagure of a Sh200 million parcel of land.
Ruth Wambui Kimani appeared before Milimani Magistrate Rose Ndombi, where she denied the allegations.
According to the charge sheet, Wambui, together with another suspect not before court, is accused of conspiring to unlawfully take over land parcel L.R No. 209/4843/10, located along Jogoo Road and valued at about Sh200 million.
The prosecution claims the two allegedly used falsified documents to link the property to a different identity.
The court heard that Ruth is further accused of making a false identity card in the name of Francis Kimani Mungai, purporting it to be a genuine document issued by the National Registration Bureau.
In her defense, Ruth said she is the administrator of the estate of her late husband, Kimani Mungai, and has been following the law in efforts to recover property belonging to the estate.
Her lawyer told the court that the disputed parcel is already before the Environment and Land Court, where she is seeking cancellation of documents tied to the complainant.
The court released Wambui on a bond of Sh 1 Million or an alternative cashbail of Sh 100,000.
The matter is set to be mentioned on 20th November.
