The Kwale County administration is actively urging investors to capitalize on the county’s strategic economic opportunities, particularly in light of the global attention garnered from the recent G7 Summit hosted by Governor Fatuma Achani, which brought together fellow governors Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga), Cecily Mbarire (Embu), Wavinya Ndeti (Machakos), Kawira Mwangaza (Meru), Susan Kihika (Nakuru) and Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay).
This call to action aligns with the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP), which outlines an ambitious framework aimed at achieving rapid economic growth, eradicating poverty, and creating sustainable employment opportunities.
The County administration has prioritized several key areas for investment to create a conducive environment for economic growth and development, as outlined in the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP).
One of the main sectors identified is agriculture and water services, with approximately 76,474 hectares of agricultural land and around 15,000 hectares under irrigation.

The county aims to enhance its irrigation capabilities through the construction of dams and micro-irrigation schemes, citing notable projects like the Nyalani Dam, Mwakalanga Dam, and Bofu Dam.
Another area mentioned by the county is trade and enterprise development, particularly through the establishment of a fruit processing plant in Shimba Hills.

According to the administration, this initiative seeks to enhance the value chain for local fruits such as mangoes, passion fruit, and citrus.
The proposed County Aggregation and Industrial Park is intended to serve as a collection and value-addition center for various agro-produces, facilitating economies of scale and better market access for farmers.
The county is also advancing the Diani and Kombani modern market projects which are designed to support local trade.
The administration states that this initiative is expected to empower local traders, particularly women, by improving their access to retail and wholesale markets.
The ‘Bomas of Kwale’ project is presented as a means to preserve and promote the county’s cultural heritage.
On the social front, the newly completed Kwale Stadium is set to host the Mashujaa Day celebrations on Sunday, October 20, 2024, with President William Ruto presiding over the event.
The stadium, located in the Matuga sub-county, has a capacity of over 10,000 spectators and is expected to greatly enhance the county’s economic and sporting activities.
This initiative reflects the county’s stated commitment to talent management and sports development.
