Engineer Michael Thuita has resigned as the Chief Executive Officer of Athi Water Works Development Agency. Following a recent order of suspension from the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, the agency have adhered with an immediate effect.
“Engineer Michael M. Thuita has resigned as Chief Executive Officer,” read the press release from the Agency.
It continued to inform the public that Engineer Joseph Mungai Kamau has taken over as the acting CEO. “Consequently, Engineer Joseph Mungai Kamau will perform the functions of the CEO in an acting capacity with immediate effect,” the Agency said. Mr. Koskei ordered the Board of Athi Water Works Development Agency to suspend Mr Thuita pending investigations in the construction tender award of Ruiru II, Karimenu, and Kitui_Matuu water projects undertaken by the Agency.
The Chief of Staff, Mr Koskei continued to argue that the inordinate delay of taking action seems to undermine the government’s war against corruption in the country.
Mr Thuita has faced accusations; of corruption allegations and the law seeks his quotation.
