Parents have raised an alarm over what they describe as unfortunate and unacceptable orders to the students in the Bachelor of Nursing program at the Lukenya University.

Those who spoke to this publication state that the admission letters presented fees for 2025 without specifying whether the listed amounts applied to a single semester or to the entire academic year.

When families reported for admission, they were informed that the stated fees were only for one semester, but students later discovered that the program operates on three trimesters annually.

Parents argue that this lack of transparency has left them feeling misled and financially strained.

They are now demanding that KUCCPS and the university provide clear and comprehensive fee structures well before students commit to admission.

Below is what some of the affected parents have shared regarding their experiences and frustrations with the university’s fee disclosure practices.

“Hey Nyakundi. Kuna story hapa about Lukenya University. Looks like KUCCPS is colluding with some private universities to lure unsuspecting students to their schools. I am a parent of a student who recently joined Lukenya University for the Bachelor of Nursing program. However, the school is hiding information about school tuition fees. I have the following questions.

1. The admission letter conveniently does not state whether the listed tuition fee is for the first semester or the entire year. In fact, the header above the letter states that it is the fee structure for 2025 (a calendar year?).

2. Upon arrival at school admission, we were informed that the listed fees are for “a semester.”

3. A week later, my niece calls me and reports that the program is split into three trimesters for each academic year. Shockingly, we have to pay the full tuition amount for each of the three trimesters! Do not parents and guardians need to know this prior to admission?”
