A businessman was on Monday charged with making a document without authority and purpoting it to be genuinely issued by the ministry of mining.

Kelvin Onyango is accused of making a document namely Mineral dealer’s (trading) licence for cargocare freight forwarders.

He is also charged with making a similar document for twinstar freight forwarders, pivot point freight forwarders, metropolitan express cargo and generating freight forwarders.

Onyango also faced alternative charges of forgery to the five counts of making false documents.

“Kevin Otieno Onyango at an unknown place and time within the Republic of Kenya, with an intent to defraud without lawful authority or excuse, made a certain document namely Mineral dealer’s (trading) license registration no. MDL/T DTL/224/533 for generation freight forwarders purpoting it to be a genuine document duly issued by the ministry of mining, a fact you knew to be false, ” one count reads.

He denied the charges before Milimani Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi and pleaded for lenient bond terms.
He was released him on Sh200,000 cash bail with one contact person and an alternative of Sh300,000 surety bond.

The case will be mentioned on March 6.
