Mohamed Abdi Mohamed has been charged with forging documents in an alleged scheme to fraudulently acquire a prime parcel of land worth millions in Nairobi’s Runda estate.
Mohamed Abdi Mohamed appeared before Milimani Principal Magistrate Daisy Mutai, where he pleaded not guilty to five counts, including forgery, making false documents, and uttering false documents.
The prosecution alleges that on or before May 3, 2006, Mohamed, jointly with others not before the court, forged a certificate of grant relating to land parcel LR No. 12672/173 (IR 89485) situated in Runda and measuring approximately 0.2412 hectares.
According to the charge sheet, the forged certificate contained an entry indicating that the property had been transferred to Mohamed, purporting it to be a genuine document issued by the then registrar of titles, George Gichimu Gachihi.
The court heard that the accused allegedly committed the offence with the intention of defrauding Margaret Mwikali Katuse of the property.
Mohamed is also accused of making a false sale agreement dated April 19, 2006, purporting it to have been signed by Margaret Mwikali Katuse in relation to the sale of the same parcel of land.
It was also alleged that on June 2, 2021, at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters at Mazingira House along Kiambu Road, he presented the allegedly forged sale agreement and a land transfer document to a police officer attached to the DCI, Moses Mwenda, while knowing them to be false.
Additionally, Mohamed is charged with making a false land transfer document dated April 19, 2006, allegedly intended to facilitate the transfer of ownership of the disputed property.
He was released on a bond of Sh200,000 or an alternative cash bail of Sh100,000.
The matter will be mentioned on July 7, pending pre-trial.
