Ex-Embakasi MP Francis Mureithi Wambugu has been charged in connection with the Sh320M fraud, leaving voters stunned

Mureithi appeared before a Milimani Court magistrate, pleaded not guilty to the charges, and requested lenient bond terms.

The politician-cum-fraudster is said to have lied that he was in a position to help the complainant land some military-related tenders in the government.

According to the DCI and the court papers, Mureithi, with intent to defraud, obtained Sh320 million by pretending that the DOC company had contracts with the Ministry of Defence to supply foodstuffs to the Department of Defence and a sugar distribution agreement with Mumias Sugar, among other contracts.

The court heard that he committed the offenses on April 26 and November 3, 2016, in the Republic of Kenya.
