A man has been charged with obtainingSh1.65 million by falsely claiming he had authority to facilitate the transfer of a Parklands property.
Hassan Aliow Roba appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Gethi Kibiru and denied the charges against him.
The prosecution alleges that on diverse dates between September 17 and December 30, 2024, at an unknown place within Kenya, Roba obtained Sh1.65 million from Adan Jama Ali with intent to defraud.
The court heard that Roba represented that he was the lawful owner of, and had lawful authority to facilitate the transfer of, Land Reference Number 209/1220/2 situated in Parklands, Nairobi.
The prosecution alleges that the representation was false and that Roba knew it to be false when he received the money.
Roba had previously been released on a police bond of Sh30,000.
Following his plea, the court granted him a bond of Sh300,000 with a surety of a similar amount, or an alternative cash bail of Sh200,000.
The case will come up on September 9, 2026, for pre-trial directions.
